Dr. Leo Lianyi Han
CEO GDCC China, Partner Quark Venture LP
Dr. Han was appointed CEO of GDCC China, an affiliate of Quark Venture LP, in 2021. GDCC China is the first strategic flagship incubator/accelerator outside Canada for the Quark Venture group and is located in Chengdu’s high-tech development zone in the province of Sichuan. GDCC China provides business concierge services for one-stop access to strategic Chinese partners, manufacturing, local talent, regulatory/clinical support, and financing. GDCC China’s core advantage is to provide a soft landing in China for our portfolio or other companies wanting to access the ever-expanding China market. GDCC also identifies cutting edge health technologies from China for our North American and European partners, especially involving AI.
Prior to joining GDCC and Quark Venture LP, Dr. Han was a Principal Scientist in Tencent America at Palo Alto, CA, USA. Tencent America is the US branch of Tencent, a leading provider of internet services in China. Key areas of focus and exploration include advertising, artificial intelligence, cloud services, entertainment, investments, payments, and security.
Dr. Han received his PhD in Bioinformatics & Computational Biology at the Department of Pharmacy & Computational science, National University of Singapore, Singapore. His research mainly focused on computational biology and bioinformatics. Dr. Han was a recipient of the President Scholarship of Singapore, and the Best Graduate Research Award. Dr. Han has 70+ peer reviewed publications with 10k+ citations in bioinformatics, cheminformatics and computational biology.
Dr. Han’s research area focuses on the AI-aided Chronic Disease management, RWE derived digital therapy, and medical AI research using AI/CV/NLP technologies. He plays the leadership roles in Parkinson Disease AI aided UPDRS evaluation in chronic disease management, Heart Failure RWE and AI production in disease management for worsening detection, pathology analysis and image segmentation.
Dr. Han had also been a Postdoctoral fellow, a Staff Scientist, a senior Bioinformatics Software Architect & Tech Lead at the National Center for Biotechnology Information/National Institutes of Health, USA, over a span of 12 years. With research focus on AI-aided Drug Design, CADD, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, as well as AI in general. Dr. Han has also concentrated research on Computer Vision, Video analysis, and Natural Language Processing and Understanding.
